Make crispy, golden, and crunchy homemade potato chips in your air fryer with minimal oil. This simple recipe uses thinly sliced potatoes, sea salt, and optional seasonings for a healthier, quick alternative to store-bought chips.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Wash and peel potatoes if desired. Using a mandoline or sharp knife, slice potatoes very thin (about 1/16 to 1/8 inch thickness).
  2. Soak potato slices in ice water for 15 minutes to remove excess starch and aid crisping. Drain and dry thoroughly with paper towels.
  3. Toss slices lightly with oil and sprinkle with salt and optional seasonings.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
  5. Arrange potato slices in a single layer in the basket; work in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  6. Air fry for 15–20 minutes, flipping or shaking the basket every 5 minutes to ensure even cooking.
  7. Chips are ready when golden and crispy. Remove and cool slightly — they will crisp up more as they cool.
  8. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container once fully cooled.
