This French Onion Soup Rice takes all the deep, savory flavors of classic French onion soup and transforms them into a cozy rice dish! It’s buttery, cheesy, loaded with caramelized onion flavor, and made in one pan for an easy side or main dish that feels fancy with very little effort.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Sauté Onions
  2. In a large skillet or saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions and cook until golden and soft (about 8–10 minutes), stirring often.
  3. Add Rice & Liquids
  4. Stir in the rice, French onion soup, beef broth, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce if using. Bring to a boil.
  5. Simmer
  6. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18–20 minutes, or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  7. Add Cheese
  8. Remove from heat, stir, and sprinkle with shredded cheese. Cover for a few minutes to melt, then fluff and serve.
