Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Add green beans and cook for 2 minutes.
Remove beans and plunge into a bowl of ice water to stop cooking; drain and set aside.
Heat olive oil in a skillet. Sauté onion 3 minutes until soft, then add garlic and cook 1-2 more minutes.
Add drained green beans to the skillet with onions and garlic. Cook 5 minutes, stirring.
Add lemon juice, orange juice, salt, and pepper. Stir, remove from heat, and transfer to serving dish.
Top with slivered almonds and lemon zest. Serve warm or at room temperature.
