  2. Mix ground flaxseed with water in a small bowl and let thicken 5-10 minutes (flax egg)
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together melted vegan butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Stir in flax egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth top.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs. Do not overbake.
  8. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing into squares.
