1. Preheat Oven & Prepare Pan
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour a 9-inch springform pan or round cake pan.
2. Prepare the Apples
Peel, core, and thinly slice:
2–3 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or other firm apples)
Toss with:
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon sugar
Set aside.
3. Make the Batter
In a bowl, beat:
1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
2/3 cup (135g) granulated sugar
until light and fluffy.
Add:
2 large eggs, one at a time
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
In another bowl, mix:
1 1/4 cups (160g) all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
Pinch of salt
Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with:
1/4 cup (60ml) milk
until smooth.
4. Assemble the Cake
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
Arrange the apple slices on top in a circular pattern.
Sprinkle with a bit more cinnamon and sugar (optional).
5. Bake
Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean and the top is golden.
Let cool slightly before serving.
