Ingredients
Directions
Warm 1/2 cup milk and mix with 1/2 cup hot water to create a lukewarm liquid.
In a bowl, combine 3 cups King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour, lukewarm milk mixture, 4 tablespoons melted butter, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast dissolved in 1 tablespoon warm water.
Stir until the dough begins to leave the sides of the bowl; knead 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1–2 hours until puffy.
Shape into an 8-inch log and place in a greased loaf pan (8 1/2”x4 1/2”).
Cover and let rise until about 1 inch above the pan, approx. 60 minutes.
Bake at 350°F for 30–35 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when thumped.
Cool before slicing.
