This chocolate cake is ultra-moist, rich in flavor, and topped with a smooth chocolate frosting. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, hosting a dinner party, or just craving something indulgent, this classic dessert never fails to impress.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together dry ingredients. Add eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla. Mix until smooth. Slowly add hot coffee and stir until fully combined (batter will be thin).
  3. Divide batter evenly between pans. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  4. Beat butter and cocoa powder until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and salt. Beat until fluffy, adjusting consistency as needed.
  5. Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread frosting, add second layer, and frost the top and sides. Decorate as desired.
