This same-day pizza dough recipe is perfect when you’re craving homemade pizza without waiting overnight for fermentation. It uses a slightly higher yeast amount for a faster rise while still delivering a soft, chewy crust with a crisp edge.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Activate yeast: In a large bowl, combine warm water (110°F / 43°C), sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–8 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix dough: Add flour, olive oil, and salt. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead: Turn onto a floured surface and knead for 7–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise: Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1–2 hours or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape: Punch down the dough, divide into two balls, and roll out to desired thickness.
  6. Top & bake: Add your favorite sauce, cheese, and toppings. Bake on a preheated pizza stone or baking sheet at 475°F (245°C) for 10–12 minutes until golden and crisp.
