This Italian sushi recipe puts a Mediterranean twist on traditional sushi by using classic Italian ingredients like prosciutto, basil, sun-dried tomatoes, and mozzarella—all rolled up sushi-style for a unique and refreshing appetizer or light lunch.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Lay out the nori sheet on a bamboo mat, shiny side down.
  2. Spread a thin, even layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving 1 inch at the top edge.
  3. Layer with prosciutto, mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes, basil leaves, and roasted red peppers.
  4. Roll tightly using the mat, applying gentle pressure to form a firm roll. Seal the edge with a bit of water.
  5. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  6. Slice each roll into 4–5 pieces using a sharp knife dipped in water.
  7. Optional: Drizzle with balsamic glaze before serving.
